At BeMyVal, we believe that your personal moments should be shared only with the people you choose. This policy outlines how we handle your information when you use our service to create that special Valentine website, and when you use our Love Counter Chrome extension.
What We Collect
Basic Account Info
When you sign up with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture to create your account.
Your Content
The names, messages, and choices you make for your Valentine site are stored so we can display them.
Usage Data
We track anonymous visit statistics for premium sites to show creators how their site is performing.
Payment Info
If you upgrade, payments are securely processed by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card details.
How We Use Your Data
We use your information solely to provide and improve the BeMyVal service. Specifically:
To authenticate you and maintain your session.
To generate and host your personalized Valentine websites.
To process payments for premium features (via Stripe).
To communicate with you about your account or critical updates.
We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or third parties.
Love Counter Chrome Extension
The Love Counter extension shows how long you’ve been together and reminds you of anniversaries with a small floating badge while you browse. Your relationship data stays on your device.
What the extension stores locally
When you set up the extension, we save the following in chrome.storage.local on your browser only:
- Your partner’s name (for display in the badge and popup)
- Your relationship start date (to calculate days together and anniversaries)
- Badge on/off preference
- A temporary “hide for today” setting, if you use it
What we do not collect
- We do not upload your relationship data to BeMyVal servers
- We do not collect or store your browsing history
- We do not read passwords, form fields, or other content from websites you visit
- We do not sell extension data to third parties
Why the extension needs site access
The floating badge appears on regular websites (http:// and https:// pages). To do that, the extension injects its own badge UI scripts onto those pages. It does not modify site content or extract data from those pages. The extension does not run on Chrome system pages such as chrome:// settings.
Optional links to BeMyVal
If you click “Create a surprise page,” bemyval.co opens in a new tab. Your partner’s name may appear in the link so a surprise page can be pre-filled — but only when you choose to open that link. We never send your name automatically.
How to delete your data
You can edit or change your name and start date anytime in the extension settings. To remove all extension data, uninstall the Love Counter extension from Chrome or clear its storage in chrome://extensions.
